For over a year, Enzo, a member of Team Seagrass, has been preparing for the November launch that will take their experiment to the ISS.
Enzo is ten years old and is a iLEAD Exploration student in 5th grade. He loves to travel and has been to 3 countries, his favorite being France. He is drawn to Scotland due to its immense beauty and hopes to one day go there. Some of his favorite things to do include playing minecraft and making science Youtube videos with his grandfather. He also loves to play with his kittens (Roo Roo and Magpie.) Enzo is very funny. He is enthusiastic and passionate about this project. Enzo’s favorite book is Diary of an 8-Bit Warrior due to the fact that it is filled with funny drawings and phrases.
I admire Mark Rober who is a genius inventor that used to be a NASA engineer who helped create the Mars Curiosity Rover and now has his own Youtube channel.”
In what ways has this experience influenced or inspired you?
“I feel inspired to explore a career in science because of this project. If I can send something into space while I’m a kid, I feel like I can do much more when I am a grown up. The world needs scientists to solve all the big problems. I’m excited to be one of those people who make a difference.”
Why did you choose to be a part of this launch team?
“I was very excited to have a chance to send something into space. Not many people ever get to be part of a space mission. I was also really excited to be part of a team of other kids who love science like I do. I really look forward to every launch team meeting.”
What’s the most interesting fact about yourself?
“I am strangely resistant to cold. I am always warm and go to sleep at night with either the window open (in the winter) or the air conditioning on (in the summer). I also sleep with an ice pack under my pillow every night. I love being in the desert – especially camping there with my family – but because I love the cold so much, I think I will move to a different part of the world when I get older. I’m thinking about the pacific northwest or even Canada.”
