My name is Chloe Casey-Castro. I am in fifth grade. I have been going to SCVI since kindergarten. I have been in the DreamUp project since last year and it has been very fun. Some things I like doing are rollerskating and volleyball. I also like baking and science. Science inspires me because it’s so exciting and you never know what the results will be until you test them out. I contributed to my team by helping out with fundraising, helping my team collect samples for our experiment, presenting our project at Kennedy Space Center, and helping to load the mix stick. I hope to learn more about science and maybe even have science in my future job.

My name is Charlie Halvorsen, I’m an 11 year old 5th grader at SCVI who enjoys sports, video games, books, and card games. Our project is to see if pyropia perforata, a kelp algae, can grow and produce oxygen in space. I want to be a part of this team because it’s an awesome opportunity, I think it’s very interesting and I’m learning a lot, I’m so proud of what we’ve already accomplished, and I’ve created great bonds with the team. I’ve always loved science and in the past year, being a part of DreamUp has made me love science so much more. I went to get the algae, I helped load one of the mix sticks, and I also helped do the fundraising to the get the kelp on the ISS. I hope to learn more about the science behind our project and why we got the results that we got.

My name is Solomon and I am 11 years old. This is my second year at SCVi.
My group’s experiment that went to space is about peyropia perferata. It is a type of seaweed and we wanted to see if it could grow and produce oxygen while up in space. That could help create clean air for astronauts.

I wanted to join Dream Up because I’ve always loved space and its secrets. I also love science and discovery and Dream Up has taught me way more about how real scientists do experiments. I have liked science but I was really into space and different planets and their powers. When I was 5, I was really into dinosaurs and said I wanted to be a paleontologist when I grew up. Then I added rocks and crystals into my interests. I just love how there’s so many different types of science like electricity, or learning about dinosaurs, or learning about the solar system .

I also love to play sports such as soccer and basketball. In my spare time I like to swim and skateboard.My family is really important to me, they make me feel good when I am not and they are my best friends.I love to play with dogs and climb high things. I also like to skateboard and scooter around my neighborhood. When I got the info saying that our experiment is going to the ISS I thought it was a dream. But pretty soon afterwards the team got to work. At the beginning of this project we weren’t really good friends but now we all have a great friendship, now we know so much about space and science & each other that I can’t imagine what our future is going to be like. But we were not done even though we sent are experiment to space and brought it back, we now have to dig deep with science and figure out what actually happened, and I can’t wait to work with my team again.

My name is Sophia Rickelton-Abdi but i go by Loulou, i go to SCVi and i’m in the fifth grade. Well my hobbIes are gymnastics, playing video games, drawing, making slime, roller skating, and doing makeup and hair. My interests are watching asmr, and going on youtube.Science inspires me because, I really want to be a astronaut for a really long time now But the science behind everything is just amazing witch I’ve always love science. I alway love going to the science museum and alway amazed from what i see. How i contributed to the launch team experiment was being the one of the four speaker at the kennedy space center, and i filled the mixstix that went to the ISS, I did some of the google slides, sadly i could not go to get the pyropia perforata at the beach. What I hope to accomplish by being on the post flight are a two thing, did the pyropia perforata produce air in space? Why did the mixstix on earth was turn purple and the one from space did not?
