My name is Garrett. I’m 14 years old and I am in 9th grade. I like playing the piano, coding, 3D modelling, and reading. Science, in my opinion, is hands-down the best subject. It also utilizes math (logic), language arts (reports, notes, papers, etc.), and social-studies (if you count history and archaeology). I can definitely say that I’m very excited to be working on this project due to my love of science. Space is also one of my favorite science subjects.
My name is Emilina and I am in the 7th grade. I enjoy playing piano, reading, science, martial arts, and horseback riding. I am very interested in science, more specifically biology. DreamUp inspires me to be more talkative and outgoing. It has challenged me because I have never done something like this before.
Hey! My name is Raegan and I am a sophomore at iLEAD Exploration. I am a part of the iLAED National Honors Society and am an officer at the school’s Associated Student Body. I act professionally, and I love to participate in theatre. In my spare time, I love to work on my graphic design skills as a social media manager with different companies.
My participation in DreamUp challenged my leadership skills in many different ways.We were taught to be independent but also work on our team collaboration skills which helped me in certain projects in the future.
Hi! My name is Samantha and I am in 7th grade. Some of my favorite hobbies include drawing and watercolor painting, solving my Rubik’s cube (My best time is 58 seconds), making mochi, and practicing Jiu-Jitsu. I like to teach my brother and sister how to draw things like people and fruit.
Participating in this Dream Up program would give me an opportunity to practice collaborating with other people. This could help me make friends and also help me learn more about space and how plants react in the microgravity environment.
My name is Hutch and I am in the sixth grade at SCVi Charter School in Castaic, California.
Like most sixth graders I enjoy video games, YouTube and Star Wars. I am an avid Lego collector and enjoy making stop motion videos with my Lego sets. I have danced competitively since I was four years old, winning numerous awards in Polynesian dance, hip hop and jazz. I enjoy horseback riding, gymnastics, golf and tennis.
I am also a writer for SCVi Leaders school newspaper. My most recent article entitled, “iLEAD Students Participate in Q&A with NASA Chief Scientist”, focused on our team’s unique opportunity to discuss our projects with Dr. Jacob Cohen. It was featured in Issue 3: Fall 2020 and can be found here: https://ileadsantaclarita.org/programs/scvi-leader/
The DreamUp to Space Virtual Mission continues to be an awesome experience. During our proposal period, it challenged me to dig deep into researching our idea and allowed me to build upon the concepts we learned in science class. Writing and presenting our experiment was so much more detailed than anything I had ever done. This journey has been amazing.
I am continuing to learn so many new things through this process and am very thankful for our “mission control” facilitators, Ms. Brown, Ms. Fredette and Ms. Soto.

My name is Timothee and everybody calls me Tim. I’m coming from a true cultural melting pot: my father is Spanish and German, my mother is french and we lived in Switzerland. I speak French, Spanish, and English and understand some German. In 2020 I moved to Santa Clarita, California and now I attend SCVi, currently in 8th grade. In my free time, I’m either playing ice hockey, rehearsing with the theater group, roller skating, playing with my siblings, or hanging out with my friends. So why would a 13-year-old boy also want to join the Dreamup to Space? It is a lifetime chance and being part of the experiments that will define our future is just a dream come true! It is with great excitement and immense pride that I take this challenge and can’t wait to get started!
