SCVi 6th Grade Scientists Soar with Hot Air Balloon Project

SCVi 6th graders wrapped up an incredible interdisciplinary project this past spring, delving into the fascinating world of hot air balloons!

Learners explored the science behind hot air balloons through various lenses, including thermal energy transfer, engineering design, and weather patterns. They investigated how heat and air pressure interact with atmospheric conditions, applying these scientific principles to create and test their own balloon models.

Beyond the scientific principles, learners also examined the rich history of ballooning and its contributions to flight. They even touched upon how data is collected and used to monitor and reduce human impact on the environment, connecting their project to real-world applications.

It was truly inspiring to see their understanding of complex scientific concepts take flight at their Presentation of Learning.

Special thanks to iLEAD Student Aerospace Projects for inspiring our learners with this innovative STEAM project.
